We began as neighbors helping neighbors.
In 1884, a group of 40 pioneering west-central Minnesota farmers recognized the need to protect their property from fire and lightning and came together to found Holmes City Farmers Mutual Insurance. In keeping with the area’s strong Scandinavian cultural heritage, the first policies were issued in Swedish – and members were required to be of Scandinavian descent.
There have been many changes in the decades since those forward-thinking farmers took action. But one thing has remained the same: Holmes City Farmers Mutual’s mission to provide comprehensive protection and service to put your mind at ease.
Today, we’ve grown to meet your needs.
Life gets complicated. Your insurance coverage doesn’t have to be. We package our policies with North Star Mutual and RAM Mutual to offer competitive rates for Home, Farm, Renters, Mobile Home, Inland Marine and Liability Policies.
Our coverage area includes the following counties: Big Stone, Douglas, Grant, Kandiyohi, Otter Tail, Pope, Stearns (Except for the city of St. Cloud), Stevens, Todd, Traverse, Swift, Wilkin, Clay (except for the city of Moorhead), Becker and Wadena.
